I slept in “shifts” last night: soundly, then awake, soundly, then awake… but felt rested enough anyway to get up around 6:30 and head out with dog to the WPA Rock Garden by about 7:00 am. The weather was perfect today; breezy, in the 70’s; just lovely. We walked around the garden and one of the duck ponds for about 2 hours. Saw lots of flowers, of course, but not as many bugs and bees as I expected… By the pond we came across a large crawfish basking in sun, and a mama Mallard and her troupe of ducklings. It wasn’t a special walk, and we didn’t see anything new or unexpected, but it sure was peaceful and beautiful out there…
