After work, I stopped briefly at the WPA Rock Garden and the middle-sized pool adjacent to it. I didn’t have much luck getting photos of the bees and other bugs; they were just too quick for me – even though a big male Carpenter Bee kept buzzing around me, showing his golden “fur” off to the females in the garden in the late afternoon light. I did get some photos of a young Red-Eared Slider Turtle that was moseying along in the pond, drifting and swimming; and I also go photos of a cormorant there, an egret and two Green Herons. The egret and herons were fishing in the boxed-in planters in the pond that hold the lotus plants (when they’re in season), so they were standing stalk-still for the most part. I was getting some handsome photos of the cormorant… who then decided to projectile-poop right in front of me. Eeew. Dude! Seriously? Hah-ha-ha-ha-ha! There was also a little male Hooded Merganser there, and some Wood Ducks. I got some shot of the Merganser from the back as he lifted himself up in the water and flapped his wings. Those birds look soooo odd from the rear! I only stayed at the park for about an hour and then headed home to crash for the day…
