I got up about 6:30 this morning, and left the house about 7:30 to go over to the American River Bend Park in search of fungi.
It was overcast and chilly (around 43°) for most of the morning, and there weren’t too many mushrooms or fungi out yet. I did come across some Ink Caps (Coprinopsis atramentaria), Yellow Fields Caps (Bolbitius titubans) and some Big Laughing Gymns (Gymnopilus junonius). The Gymns have caps that can get as large as dinner plates, so they’re pretty easy to see. Nothing too exciting yet, though.
I walked for about hours and then headed back home – just as it started to rain. Good timing!
