Unlike other regional zoos, the Folsom Zoo is a haven for animals that were rescued from people who were keeping them illegally, animals that spent some portion of their lives in the entertainment industry , and/or animals that, for whatever reason, cannot be returned to the wild. So, it’s more like a sanctuary than a zoo. It’s also a zoo that features many animals that are native to California like Black Bears and Mountain Lions.

• Other Notes: Most of the walkways in the zoo are flat and paved, but there are some areas with steps and inclines.

From Sacramento

• Take Highway 50 East to the Folsom Blvd. exit
• Turn LEFT onto Folsom Blvd.
• Go approximately 3 miles to Natoma Street
• Turn RIGHT onto Natoma Street
• Go about a half mile to Stafford Street
• Turn RIGHT onto Stafford Street
• Then take the first RIGHT into the parking lot. The zoo is adjacent to the parking lot.
